About Us
Boutique Hotels & Lodges New Zealand Limited was established when it was recognized that there was a gap in the New Zealand Tourism arena for a niche marketing group specializing to promote a select group of mid-upper market genuine boutique hotels and lodges to the international traveler. Many of these properties also appeal to the corporate market for corporate, incentive and conference accommodation as well as weddings and special events.
The criteria was to bring together a non-competing, eclectic group of mid-upper market properties in each of the major tourism areas of New Zealand. No more than two properties are accepted from any one area and these must differ in type, i.e. boutique hotel or lodge and/or in tariff. This gives our guests and suppliers a nationwide range of “similar properties in quality while offering a wide range of differing experiences” properties to choose from “collectively”.
In order to add to the experience we have sought out properties which also offer a historic, architectural, artistic or cultural point as well as City, Lake, Alpine, Bush and Beach environments.
Boutique Hotels & Lodges New Zealand was established 6 years ago and is now recognized as one of the leading international tourism marketers in New Zealand who are constantly “raising the bar” in an ever growing and competitive market.
The company is owned and operated by and Susan Roberts and Erin Sullivan (Mapperson) who together have over 60 years experience in the travel, tourism, airline and hospitality industry and from this they bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, credibility and excellent relationships to all associated partners.
Susan Roberts has an impressive multi-faceted background in travel and tourism. Her career over more than 30 years has included representing Air New Zealand at Parliament and working with the travel and hospitality industry in London and New Zealand. For 16 years Susan was Malaysia Airlines Sales Executive for Wellington and the South Island, followed by a term as Director of Sales at the James Cook Hotel in Wellington. Susan’s knowledge of, and contacts within the retail and corporate travel trade, is extensive and brings added value to the operation of Boutique Hotels & Lodges.
Erin is a member of the International SKAL club, and both Erin and Susan are members of NZITT-NZ Institute of Travel and Tourism and TIA- Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand.
